What Fit Passport keeps, why, and what it never does.
Updated 30 September 2026
What the website keeps
- Your passport: the body measurements you choose to enter (every one optional), your preferred fit, the size systems you shop in, and a portrait if you upload one.
- Your closet and to-buy list: the clothes you add, their sizes, and how they fit you.
- The products you check: what was read from the page — brand, name, category, size rows — and the recommendation we gave. The page itself is not stored.
- If you claim your account: a username, your password (kept only as a one-way hash), and an email address if you give one, used only to reset your password.
- What you post to the community: outfits, questions, answers, likes and follows.
Cookies
- fp_session keeps you signed in to your account — including the unclaimed one the site makes on your first visit. It lasts a year.
- fp-lang remembers the language you chose.
- fp_carry and fp_carried: Fit Passport moved from fit-passport.vercel.app to fitpassport.fit, and an account you had at the old address comes with you. The old address hands over a pass that works for one minute and only in this browser; fp_carry, kept for five minutes at most, is how this browser shows it asked. fp_carried then remembers for a year that the move is done. If this browser held a different account at each address, they become one: the one with a password stays (otherwise the one at the new address, unless it is empty), and the other's closet, saved products and measurements move into it, overwriting nothing.
- No advertising or analytics cookies, and no tracking across other sites. Page visits are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and keeps no visitor identity beyond 24 hours; account codes and anything after a “?” in the address are removed before a visit is counted.
The browser extension
- It reads a page only when you click it, and only the tab you are looking at.
- It sends a reduced copy of the product page — title, product data, size charts and size options — and nothing from forms, the cart, your account, reviews or the rest of the page. You can see exactly what will be sent before anything is. If you tell it which picture on the page is the size chart, it also sends that one picture's address — nothing else about the page's pictures. When you press "I own this, add to closet", it takes a screenshot of the tab you are on, crops it to the product picture, and saves it to your closet, where only you can see it.
- With your permission, asked once on a click, it also reads measurement lines from an eBay seller's description.
- It sends your Fit Passport session with the request, so the answer can use your profile, and saves a product to your to-buy list only when you press Save.
- It keeps your language choice in the extension's own storage.
Who else sees it
- Your passport is private. Others see your profile only if you list yourself in the community or share your account code — and then only what that page shows.
- We do not sell data, show ads, or share your profile with retailers.
- Services that run the site: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Upstash (rate limiting, which counts requests by IP address for a few minutes) and Resend (password-reset email). When a page has no size chart we can read, its text — never your measurements — may be sent to Anthropic's API to read the chart, and so may a picture you picked as the size chart; what is read from a picture is kept, the picture is not. When a product's name does not tell us what kind of garment it is, that name — never anything about you — may be sent to TypeSafe to classify it.
Your choices
- Change or clear any measurement in your passport, and remove items from your closet or to-buy list, at any time.
- Deactivating your account (on the Account page) hides it from everyone and stops sign-in. The data is kept so it can be restored. To have it erased, write to the address below.
